About Jacob (Jake) Kimball – Serving Clients in Colorado Springs
With almost 20 years of experience in the legal industry, Jake Kimball knows just how essential personal injury cases are for injured individuals and their families. A victim of an auto accident himself, Jake understands the complications that can arise from accidents due to negligence. Having spent his entire career in the Colorado Springs area, Jake’s legal services are tailored to the unique needs of his clients. He always strives to create personalized legal solutions so injured victims can resolve their cases while feeling empowered and in control.
Jake understands the importance of communication and professionalism, which is why he is dedicated to staying in touch with his clients every step of the way. Attorney Jake Kimball operates on pillars of professionalism and empathy to provide comprehensive legal guidance for any personal injury issue.
Jake attended law school at The Ohio State College of Law from 2002-2005, where he worked as an editor on the Ohio State Law Journal, and received the U.S. Department of Education’s Foreign Language Area Studies Fellowship. He graduated in 2005, and promptly moved to Colorado, where he has been practicing since.
Jake has always had a passion for personal injury law, both personally and professionally. When Jake was 19, he was hit by a drunk driver and hospitalized for three days. He suffered multiple vertebral fractures that have caused him back and neck pain and limitations in the 25 years since then. There was no insurance coverage available. This experience has given him a great deal of empathy for his clients and those who are unable to receive justice or fair compensation for their injuries.
For the first eight years or so of his career, Jake worked for insurance companies as insurance defense counsel. While he enjoyed the work itself, which helped support his young family, working for insurance companies was often unsatisfying and frustrating when the insurance company refused to fairly compensate individuals who were obviously hurt, so Jake switched his practice to the other side of the aisle, representing the victims of car crashes, which he finds much more satisfying and fulfilling.
In 2017, Jake, along with two other partners, formed a law firm specializing in personal injury, which they grew to help hundreds of clients recover millions of dollars for their personal injury claims and cases. During that time, Jake transitioned from handling all the personal injury cases to managing other attorneys. However, he recently decided to sell his interest in the firm to return to personally handling his client’s cases.
Personal Life
Jake is married with six children, ages 3 to 20. His family are his favorite people to be around, but he also enjoys physical challenges and discovering what else he is capable of. He loves working out at the gym, primarily powerlifting and CrossFit, but also being outdoors. Last summer, he decided to ride a 100-mile bike race, but also does an annual adventure to push him outside his comfort zone, including hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu; kayaking and snowshoeing in Norway; exploring the Scottish Highlands; and summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro. He is currently training to run a marathon this year, and is keeping an eye out for new adventures.
Background & Education
Jake is the fifth of eight kids, growing up in Arizona and Utah. He decided to stay close to home to complete his bachelor’s degree at nearby BYU. After completing an internship at the Federal Judicial Center in Washington DC, he knew he had to get out of the state to gain more diversity of experience, which is how he ended up at Ohio State for law school. Once he graduated from law school, however, he knew he wanted to live in Colorado, and has remained here since, absolutely loving the opportunities, people, and outdoors Colorado Springs has to offer.
Experience
Once graduated, Jake took to the courtroom, amassing nearly two decades of experience practicing Civil Litigation and Personal Injury law in Colorado. Jake saw everything from auto accidents, wrongful death cases, personal injury incidents, premises liability, insurance claims, as well as bad faith insurance claims. He has personally recovered millions of dollars in compensation for his clients, and has overseen the recovery of even more.
He has practiced in Colorado continuously for 18 years. He is licensed to practice in the State of Colorado, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the El Paso County Bar Association, and the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association.
